The Sweet Tea Girls are Southern in roots with sweet tea as a favorite beverage. Her designs have been featured in numerous magazines as well as major quilting catalogue businesses such as Keepsake and Nancy’s Notions. Many of her designs are been used by the fabric manufacturers in their current fabric collections.
Leigh Headington started The Sweet Tea Girls after finding she needed an outlet for her energy and creativity when she retired as an engineer from IBM. With a background in mathematics, mechanical engineering, and project management, Leigh is meticulous about her instructions and accuracy of information. She prefers symmetrical, balanced designs but loves designing a variety of bright, eclectic styles.
The company is named in honor of Leigh's grandmother, Sally McDonald, the true queen of 'Sweet Tea' who taught Leigh and her sisters to sew using those wonderful scraps from the attic. "She gave us the love of fabric and creation along with the desire to make sure everyone in our family slept beneath a ton of quilts"!
Between designing patterns and teaching classes, The Sweet Tea Girls stay very busy.
Janet began quilting as a hobby to pass the long winter months of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The hobby soon grew to a passion that has spanned 25 years. Working at Stitchin’ Heaven has allowed Janet to combine her zeal for quilting with her love of teaching to help others gain the skills to be successful and enjoy the journey.
Log Cabin blocks are my favorite block and one of the most versatile quilt blocks. The arrangement and coloring of these blocks create a lovely Patriotic star. These blocks are a perfect way to use up scraps or a planned fabric palette can be used as well. Other creative block placements can be explored for a different look to this star.

When the Spanish closed their colonial fort on St. Maarten in 1648, a few Dutch and French soldiers hid on the island and decided to share it. Soon after, the Netherlands and France signed a formal agreement to split St. Maarten in half, as it is today. Philipsburg displays its Dutch heritage in its architecture and landscaping. The island offers endless stretches of beach, beautiful landscapes and great shopping. Compete in an actual race on an America's Cup shortened course.
