San Diego is such a fun city! Not only does it have the Balboa Park which is home to the San Diego Zoo (and just a few minutes from our hotel), you have well-known attractions like Sea World, Old Town San Diego, La Jolla Shores, and an abundance of beaches, museums, and other attractions. We all know that it never rains in southern California which is why it makes it so beautiful with a average temperature of 72 degrees year round.
We’ve got such a fun trip planned. Daniela Stout, who is one of our teachers, has a phenomenal quilt shop in El Cajon just a short drive from our hotel and Island Batik fabric warehouse is in that same area. So we are planning to make a stop at the San Diego Zoo, have a picnic lunch and then head over to Daniela’s store where she will have some fun craziness waiting for us. At Island Batik we will be treated to a live demonstration on batik making. Should be a really fun week!
Hope you can join us!

Designed by Tiffany Hayes, Rustic Tiling is a great quilt with an old world, warm feeling. You won't believe how much you will learn about accurate piecing until you have taken a class from Tiffany. The fabric is batik and the design is one that you will definitely be able to finish during the week. Tiffany is the creator of The Goddess Tool and she will be demonstrating different ways to use it in your projects at home throughout the week.

What a perfect name for this elegant quilt. The little four patch between the blocks gives the effect of hanging blooms. And the piecework in the border adds a lovely touch for this romantic quilt. Everyone love the turquoise and tan colorway and these batik fabrics will be just perfect in the project. If you want different colors feel free to bring your own pre-cut kit.
