How to Make Quilted Fabric Bookmarks

Sep 21, 2022

Hello everyone! Kymona here with another stash buster project for all of you, Quilted Fabric Bookmarks!

If you sew, I know for sure you have a fabric stash that keeps growing no matter how much of it you use. I, too, have the same issue. The more I use up, the more I save. Fabric bookmarks are a great way to use up that stash and make bookmarkers for family, friends, or yourself. Quilting them is an added plus.

You can use the fabric as is, or you could piece together different strips of fabric to create a new piece of fabric for a unique bookmark.

Take a look at these quilted fabric bookmarks:

Lastly, place the top fabric piece with the ribbon right sides down on the backing fabric.

Step 4: Sew the Pieces Together

Attach the patchwork foot for dual feed to the bernette 77.

Start on one of the long sides and sew around using a 1/4 inch seam allowance, leaving a 3-inch hole for turning.

Step 5: Trim and Turn

Trim off the excess fabric from the sides and clip the corners to remove the bulk.

Turn the bookmark inside out. Fold the opening in and press.

If you want to add dimension and flatten the bookmark more, quilting is a great way to do that.

Use the decorative and quilt stitching on the machine to quilt the bookmarks.

The design used is decorative stitch 189 and quilting stitch 1025 on the bernette 77.
