Krista Moser

Krista Moser

Krista Moser is the creative force and inspiration behind The Quilted Life. She is the designer of the Creative Grids 60-Degree Diamond ruler and a whole slew of very popular patterns that accompany it! She has been designing since birth (practically); a quilting and fiber arts enthusiast, she started sewing at 8 years old sneaking off to the sewing machine during her Mom's nap time. Since she was young, inexperienced and unable to read patterns, everything was made from her imagination propelling the creativity and innovative design she is known for today. She began her professional piecing and machine quilting career at the spunky age of fourteen, adding the texture and dimension machine quilting brings to every project. She has been traveling and teaching quilting lessons for more than twenty years and her classes are known for their fun laid-back style. She really loves it and the "ah ha" moments her students have light up the room.

Laurie loves to travel to new places to share her enthusiasm and affinity for batiks, as well as her no-nonsense quilting tips. This will be her 3rd engagement as featured teacher on quilting cruises. Laurie's television appearances include Simply Quilts with Alex Anderson, and a feature on Art Zone, In Studio on The Seattle Channel.

Nancy Mahoney - Townhouses

Nancy Mahoney - Townhouses

Inspired by the cool, clear water of the Caribbean Sea, construct your own bit of paradise overlooking the sea. The Quarter Log Cabin blocks are arranged in tidy rows, just like spiffy townhouses. The color placement is the same for all the blocks. So, with all the pieces precut, chain piecing will make quick work of the blocks. You'll have a precious jewel to take home after a fun cruise!

Finished size: 72" x 72"

NOTE: Fabrics in our Sail 'n Sew kits will be similar but not exactly as shown. If you do not purchase the Sail N Sew you will need to purchase the pattern here: Townhouses

Krista Moser - Woven Jewelbox

Krista Moser - Woven Jewelbox

Woven Jewelbox is a fresh modern approach to asymmetrical design. This quilt with its simple piecing makes a dramatic impact with color placement and 60-degree angles. No tedious piecing here! This quilt is a real crowd pleaser. Plan to finish this project during the cruise for sure. You won’t believe how fast it will go together. You will need the Creative Grids 60 degree ruler for this project (sold separately and required).

Finished Size: 59" x 72"

NOTE: Fabrics in our Sail 'n Sew kits will be similar but not exactly as shown. If you do not purchase the Sail N Sew you will need to purchase the pattern here: Woven Jewelbox

Required Tools: This project requires the 60 Degree Diamond Ruler. It is required for the class and is not included in the Sail 'n Sew.

Laurie Shifrin - Antelope Canyon

Laurie Shifrin - Antelope Canyon

Laurie is so excited to share one of her most popular designs - Antelope Canyon. High up on her Bucket List is a visit to explore the twin slot canyons of Antelope Canyon in northern Arizona. Most of us have seen amazing photos of the swirling oranges of the narrow canyons – just do google images for Antelope Canyon and you’ll see the familiar waves and undulations – and we may not have know where they were taken. Her nephew Dan, a talented young photographer, was lucky enough to visit the canyons, and boy was she jealous! Instead of planning a trip to see for herself, she designed a quilt that brought to mind the feelings she'd imagine experiencing with a first-hand visit.  If you bring your own fabric, you can choose pre-cut strips or cut yardage with a contrasting background. These unique Log Cabin-style blocks are perfect for any quilter with a little experience.  We will explore rotating the blocks to create other stunning layouts and more inspiring ideas will be shared during the cruise!

Finished Size: 74" x 74"

NOTE: Fabrics in our Sail 'n Sew kits will be similar but not exactly as shown. If you do not purchase the Sail N Sew you will need to purchase the pattern here: Antelope Canyon

Optional Sail 'n Sew Fabric Pack

Our incredible Sail 'n Sew fabric pack includes all of the fabrics and patterns for your projects and they are pre-cut so all you need to do is sit down and sew! The price of the Sail ‘n Sew fabric pack is $500.00 and it includes all three of the projects for this cruise. If you would like to buy individual kits, please call for pricing. If you would like a Sail ‘n Sew pack, just let us know when you make your Reservation and we'll have a kit waiting for you on the ship. Order early as supplies are limited. Every attempt will be made to match the fabrics as closely to the photo as possible if fabric is no longer available.

If you do not wish to purchase a Sail 'n Sew Fabric Pack, remember to pack your own fabrics. We will not have fabrics available for purchase aboard the ship.  You will need to bring your fabric pre-cut and ready for class. You must also bring your pattern or book. You can purchase the patterns here: TownhousesWoven JewelboxAntelope Canyon.

A complete supply list will be sent to you 90 days prior to departure.

Philipsburg, St Maarten

What makes St. Maarten so unique is its blend of cultures. The island is home to 120 different nationalities speaking over 80 languages, and is governed by two countries: the Netherlands and France. In fact, it’s the smallest land mass in the world to be shared by two different nations. While it may be less than 40 square miles, there’s plenty to do on this little island: you can travel back in time while exploring centuries-old ruins and get your adrenaline fix ziplining through lush tropical forests. If you’re after a little rest and relaxation during your cruise to St. Maarten, you’ll find plenty of secluded beaches where you can work on your suntan before treating your taste buds to some of the best cuisine in the Caribbean.

Day 5

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Behind stone walls, Old San Juan charms with 500 years of history, colorful colonial buildings and streets lined with shops, galleries, and cafes. Experience Puerto Rico's enchanting natural side in the nearby rainforest. When you're in San Juan, don't miss the opportunity to witness the pinnacle of natural beauty by exploring Puerto Rico's El Yunque Rain Forest. It features more than 240 species of trees, hundreds of miniature orchids, and what was once believed to be the Fountain of Youth.
