WHAT: Stitchin’ Heaven will make their national television debut on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” with the award-winning host highlighting the quilt shop’s face mask initiative as part of their #GoodNeighbor Campaign. This campaign aims to lift spirits and recognize helpers across the country coming together to protect, serve, and be good stewards of their communities.
WHO: Stitchin’ Heaven is Texas’ largest quilt shop and online destination for sewers. After closing the doors to their brick and mortar shop in the small town of Quitman in early March due to concerns surrounding COVID-19, founder Deb Luttrell began seeing reports of face masks shortages around the country. The shop quickly took action to help. After meeting with medical professionals for guidance, they began utilizing their stockpile of fabric to sew face masks for local medical facilities. To get their large online following involved, the team created a free pattern and YouTube tutorial, and encouraged their community of sewers to sew masks for their local facilities or to send their masks to Stitchin’ Heaven for distribution and delivery to those in need. So far, thousands of masks that have been sourced to medical facilities and nursing homes across the country.
