The Farmer's Wife Sampler - 83" x 103"

Take a step back to a simpler time with this gorgeous tribute quilt!

In 1922, a very popular magazine, The Farmer's Wife, held a contest asking one simple question: "Would you want your daughter to marry a farmer?" Author Laurie Hird, using 55 of the top letters from the contest as inspiration, created 111 traditional, 6" quilt blocks, and put them on point, giving us this wonderfully nostalgic quilt design. In her book, Laurie Hird shares the letters, and gives the layouts for each of the blocks, but it doesn't give instructions on how to make the blocks. However, Penny Haren, renowned author and quilt teacher, has written detailed instructions (in lesson form) for each of the blocks! She also added two blocks and has adapted the size to fit a queen/king size bed.

William Morris Sampler - 64" Square

William Morris led the Arts and Crafts movement of the late nineteenth century. The arts and crafts movement was made up of English designers and writers who started a return to well-made, handcrafted goods as a competition to poor quality machine-made items. Morris set up his own company with fellow artists called Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co in 1861, (later just Morris & Co), which produced everything for interior decorating from furniture and textiles to wallpaper and jewelry. This beautiful quilt features blocks based on the many flowers and patterns that can be found on some of the wallpapers and textiles designed by William Morris from the 1870's to the 1890's. It is a 13 block sampler quilt, and is set on point and bordered by an ornate design. This is a project for both the beginner and advanced quilters, and the applique can be completed by hand or machine.

Pennsylvania Dutch Delight, designed by Karen Ann Grabowski for Black Sheep Quilts, is a delight-ful folk art quilt featuring nature in all it's glory. A wonderful quilt for all year long, these tranquil scenes will add an aire of peace and serenity to any room.

During this 12-month Block-of-the-Month program, you will receive the pattern and fabrics needed to complete the quilt top including sashing, borders and binding. The pattern includes full-sized applique sketches to make transferring the images easier.

Block of the Month Quilt Program & Club Policy:

When you register for our block-of-the-month quilt programs, it is understood that you are registering for the entire program. We will abide by this policy and prepare a kit for you each month with the understanding that you will remain in the program for the duration.

We understand, however, that things happen. If something happens that causes you to need to cancel, please let us know right away! Our $25 “start fee” is applied so that we may offer you the quilt at a reasonable monthly fee without a large lump-sum payment at the end for borders, binding, etc. Should you need to cancel before the program is over, however, it is not refundable.

Afraid of mistakes? Our store is unique in that if you should make a small mistake on a particular piece of fabric you can call and request a replacement. We are happy to accommodate when fabric is available provided this policy is not abused. If you make a large mistake we usually have extra fabric available for you to purchase at a small price. Please just call and discuss it with us!
