January 19 - 23, 2022

Leslie McNeil is the designer of her own pattern line from MarveLes Art Studios since 2015. Her patterns have been featured in Art Quilting magazine and throughout quilt shops nationally. She has designed over fifty patterns.

Leslie teaches her collage technique of floral, raw-edge, fusible appliqué, focusing on color choices, value, scale and texture to help students gain confidence in creating floral collage, as well as expertise in fusing, cutting and tips for quilting.

She began sewing as a young girl through 4-H and was drawn into the world of quilting through her love of free motion when she began teaching in 2005. Leslie’s motto is “the pursuit of excellence—not perfection” in all things. Visit her website, MarveLesArtStudioss.com to see more of her works.

The Classes

Learn To Collage with Leslie

Learn to see floral fabrics in a whole new way! Leslie will show you how she selects floral fabrics for collage in a process that encourages you to ‘become the designer’ so you can use them to create YOUR new color story! She will show how she applies placement, depth, scale, and texture to create a fun collage that is visually appealing with happy details that draw the eye in to see more. She will share tips on working with fusible and cutting quickly and easily. Audience participation is encouraged!

This class will begin at 3PM on Wednesday.

Boot Cut Blooms

Every girl needs a pair of country western boots, and this pattern is full of fun details using a simple technique. While I used a beautiful faux leather and trim, other fabrics such as batiks, textured solids, and ultra suede are great choices, and easy to customize into a unique western boot of your own creation!

This pattern’s skill level is easy ~ great for all levels of quilters. This is a technique of raw-edge, fusible applique; instructions are included. You don’t need lots of yardage, but you do need lots of florals, cut from scraps, or yardage. A few other scraps for the hat, scarf, etc., from a favorite plaid shirt, or other wool or felt scraps, can make this collage really charming, and very unique and personal to you.

Bonus Class:

City Chic

This is an original pattern developed from Leslie's sketchbook! A playful technique of arranging flowers to create a floral collage, where one uses many small pieces of fabric to create a bouquet of a large heart onto a decorative pillow base. I’ve included lots of tips in my pattern explaining in detail this process of raw-edge, fusible applique. This pattern’s skill level is easy ~ great for all levels of sewers and quilters.

The pattern can easily be converted into a table topper, or a wall hanging, as desired.

"This is the first trip of this kind that I have taken and am already saving to take another! Our "bus moms" Sandra and Nancy were beyond great! The value of the experience, tours, acoomodations, etc. were well worth the price of the trip!."

-Linda A.

"For transitioning from cruising to land for a quilt retreat, Stitchin Heaven did an amazing job. There were lots of little gifts and surprises along the way. Chocolate was handed out when called for. The excursion to the fabric shop was lovely and the lunch they provided top notch. The trip to the Titanic Museum was one that I will not forget for a very long time."
