Quilt shop celebrates new facility in Quitman with demonstrations by industry experts, prizes, and visits from local dignitaries
QUITMAN, Texas – Jan. 13, 2020 – Stitchin' Heaven, Texas’ largest quilt shop and online destination for sewers, will celebrate the recent opening of its 17,500 square foot facility with three days of festivities from Thursday, Feb. 13, to Saturday, Feb. 15. Locals and travelers are invited to come out and enjoy Stitchin’ Heaven’s fun and relaxed atmosphere, enter to win prizes, and learn more about the hobby enjoyed by more than seven million people across the U.S.
Activities each day will begin at 11:00 a.m. and conclude at 5:00 p.m. Onsite activations include:
An appetizer buffet lunch at noon followed by informational sessions led by fabric and sewing industry executives. Local dignitaries and government representatives will also be in attendance making announcements and mingling with guests.
Industry experts from Creative Grids, Laurastar, Martelli Enterprises and other top brands will treat sewers to a day of quilting education and demonstrations, as well as the opportunity to test and view the latest products, tools and accessories.
Stitchin’ Heaven visitors will have the chance to win a plethora of prizes throughout the day. Each attendee will receive one door prize ticket upon arrival, plus one additional ticket for every $25 spent in the store.
Additionally, The Supper Quilt, a 67-in. by 183-in. traveling work of art based on Leonardo DaVinci’s The Last Supper, will be on display. Dr. Donald Locke, a retired dentist from Waxahachie, created the interpretation with 51,816 squares of fabric. The quilt will be available to view all day Friday and on Saturday until 2:00 p.m.
“The continued support we’ve received from Quitman and our entire Texas community has been phenomenal and so heartwarming,” said Deb Luttrell, founder of Stitchin’ Heaven. “Our hope is that the new shop and upcoming lodging additions will bring more commerce to the area and continue the revitalization of this great town. We can’t wait to celebrate with all of the friends we’ve made along the way.”
