Carol's lighthearted approach and ability to teach have earned her high marks and positive comments from workshop participants worldwide and at national shows such as the Houston International Quilt Festival and the American Quilter's Society Show. If you have ever taken a class from Carol, you know that her enthusiasm for quiltmaking is infectious. Carol has a gift of sharing her inspiring ideas with her students in such a positive and unique way. Carol has traveled to teach extensively through the United States including Alaska and Hawaii and as far away as England and Australia.
Carol's history in the quiltmaking is nothing short of remarkable, and the future of quiltmaking will benefit from her generous knowledge, enthusiasm, and most of all from her love of quilts.
Debbie Maddy is designer, teacher and founder of Calico Carriage Quilt Designs. She loves fabric, sewing—and quilters! She designs patterns for quilts that are visually stunning but easy to make. Since 1993, she has also shared her enthusiasm for quilting with others through teaching throughout the country. In 2013, Debbie was a nominee for Teacher of the Year by the International Association of Quilting Professionals.
Calico Carriage was founded in 2005. Today, her patterns are sold all over the world, with priority to sales to independent quilt shop owners. With Debbie's simple, accurate No Diamonds / No "Y" Seams technique, there are no fussy bias edges and all the quilt assembly is done with straight-line sewing. Instructions are written in an easy-to-follow style, with cutting, layout and piecing diagrams to ensure success. Using her patterns, novice quilters can confidently make beautiful old-style quilts, while experienced quilters can enjoy fast, easy piecing with striking results.
Daniela is the owner of Cozy Quilt Shop in El Cajon, California. She has published many books and patterns under Cozy Quilt Designs. Her quilt shop called Cozy Quilt Shop opened in 2003.
Soon after they opened there doors, Daniela started to design patterns for a program she called Strip Club. The patterns were based on 2 1/2" strips and a new craze was born along with a crazy new publishing venture. Daniela has now published over 100 patterns, and many books, along with her Strip Tube Ruler and 10" ruler! So much happens at her shop that she is fond of saying.... "Never a dull moment at Cozy!"

Day 1 Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Fort Lauderdale lies along the Atlantic Ocean at the mouth of the New River, 25 miles north of Miami. Its warm tropical weather attracts many people throughout the year. For sun-worshippers, the city has six miles of beaches. There are also many recreational waterways with extensive boating facilities, access to every conceivable watersport, a variety of fascinating museums and trendy restaurants, and an array of entertainment venues.
People have been flocking to Fort Lauderdale's beaches for decades. And with good reason. Fort Lauderdale Beach is a two-mile strip of beautiful beach featuring the recently renovated Promenade, which offers all sorts of bars, restaurants and shops.
Day 2 Nassau, Bahamas
For a city now known for its warming sun and balmy breezes, Nassau has a tumultuous past. First settled by the English, the area was contested by England, France and Spain. For many years, Nassau was a home base for notorious pirates, and it was burned to the ground by the Spanish three different times. Since 1740, however, visitors from all over the world in search of both relaxation and adventure have made Nassau their favorite destination.
Note: The classroom will open at 2:00 for free-time sewing if you want to bring a project to work on.
Day 3 Cruising
Quilting Classes in the Conference Center!
Day 4 Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
St. Thomas is known as an idyllic vacation spot today, but its history is not so peaceful. In the 18th century, the island was at the center of a bustling pirate culture, as swashbuckling pirates such as Blackbeard and Drake traded stolen wares in the port of Charlotte Amalie. This world-renowned Caribbean island is home to amazing beaches, gorgeous sea and landscapes and unbelievable duty-free shopping. While the beaches and ocean are beautiful, there is one thing that really sets St. Thomas apart - shopping. Browse through the shop-lined streets of Charlotte Amalie and find out why St. Thomas is called the "duty-free shopping capital of the world." Shop for duty-free trinkets and bargains on everything from liquor to imported china and crystal. Visitors can bring home $1,200 in merchandise without paying duty - twice the limit of most of the Caribbean.
NOTE: From our many visits to the island, we have developed a relationship with a fantastic jeweler, Imperial Jewelers. Charlie and his family run this well-respected jewelry store and have graciously offered to provide transportation for our group to their store.
Day 5 Philipsburg, St. Maarten
When the Spanish closed their colonial fort on St. Maarten in 1648, a few Dutch and French soldiers hid on the island and decided to share it. Soon after, the Netherlands and France signed a formal agreement to split St. Maarten in half, as it is today. Philipsburg displays its Dutch heritage in its architecture and landscaping. The island offers endless stretches of beach, beautiful landscapes and great shopping.
