Stitchin' Heaven is looking for someone to join our Facilities Team. This person is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of Stitchin' Heaven and the surrounding grounds. This includes our retail, office, retreat center, cottages, and bunkhouse facilities. Some weekends are expected; when retreats are scheduled on site. It is important for this person to be careful and thorough in working, cleaning and tidying the premises for our guests and employees. Duties include vacuuming floors, sanitizing restroom facilities and collecting trash to ensure the building’s occupants have a clean space.

The ideal candidate for this role will demonstrate exceptional custodial abilities, multi-tasking skills, and excellent time-management. They will have great physical endurance to cover a large space. A keen eye for detail and diligence are imperative.

Roles and Responsibilities

Handling of all tasks related to maintaining the cleanliness of Stitchin’ Heaven. Tasks will be assigned by individual based on workload and location. Procedures developed by the Facilities Manager will be followed to insure standardized completion of each task. They will include but not be limited to the following

  • Performs general, routine custodial duties, to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking supplies
  • Disinfect commonly used items like desks, door handles, office tools and phones
  • Keeps buildings and properties in clean and orderly condition
  • Empties trash receptacles, bags trash for proper disposal, and disposes trash into dumpsters
  • Maintain cleaning inventory and notify when additional supplies are needed
  • Performs routine maintenance activities
  • Performs heavy cleaning duties when needed
  • Notifies managers regarding the need for repairs
  • Secure facilities after cleaning the area by locking doors and windows
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned by manager

Qualifications for the Job

  • Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for many hours
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion for long periods of time
  • Experience with using cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and cleaning solutions
  • Background in handling, mixing, and using cleaning chemicals
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards safety rules
  • Communication skills
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders and work at particular heights
  • Previous custodial experience preferred but not required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
