General Job Description

The Retail Store Specialist is responsible for providing sales and service to those customers who are interested in and/or purchase products associated with our Retail Sales Department. This individual is keenly aware of the processes within the Retail Store Specialist and has knowledge of every aspect of the processes needed to deliver 100% customer satisfaction to our sewing machine customers. Our Retail Store Specialists possess a “can-do” attitude understands the importance of delivering the product on time with the highest level of quality available.

Retail Store Specialist is accountable for meeting goals, is a team player, and understands how to “WOW” people whether it is a customer, team member or vendor.


Roles and Responsibilities

This description intends to describe the general nature and level of work performed by the individual assigned to this job. It is not intended to include all duties, responsibilities and qualifications.

·        Helps customers buy items through the execution of the Retail Sales Process. This can include helping the customer find a product, placing a special order for out-of-stock or specialty items, and providing information about products.

·        Processes payments and accepts cash, which frequently involves making change, applying coupons or promotions, and bagging the customer’s items after the sale.

·        Ensures that our store looks its best and that customers can reach items by arranging displays and merchandizing items. This can include arranging seasonal and holiday displays, placing sale items in a central location for customers to browse, and front-facing items such as books to create a visually and aesthetically pleasing shopping experience.

·        Makes sure that items are correctly priced before they are added to shelves.

·        Answers customer questions about products, stock availability, promotions, and store policies and maintains a high level of familiarity with the store’s offerings, policies, and events.

·        Provides an exceptional level of customer service through assistance in selecting and cutting fabric, helping understand patterns, providing product demonstrations, and any other area the customer is having trouble with or needing assistance.

·        Stays current on BERNINA products and helps when the BERNINA Sales Specialist is not available.

·        Participates in developing ideas for classes, events, and retreats and registers customers when needed

·        Ensures the retail store is always clean, neat and tidy in order to provide an amazing customer shopping experience

·        High School Diploma or equivalent

·        2+ years of sales experience required

·        Sewing/Embroidery knowledge or the willingness to learn

·        Excellent communication, verbal and written skills

·        Ability to create an inspiring environment for customers

·        Strong commitment to customer service

·        Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment

·        Ability to work a flexible schedule
